What We Do

One

Using technology, there can be much more growth than on a conventional farm.

Two

Using CEA, the use of pesticides and water is greatly reduced, therefore protecting the environment.

Three

This model can be used for commercial and personal use.

Although, small in comparison to other larger farms, in a changing world our indoor hydroponic farming facility offers a solution of growing plants in a soilless highly controlled environment known as (CEA) Controlled Environment Agriculture.

This type of environment can lead to higher crop production and greatly reduces the use of pesticides also using up to 98 per cent less water. In addition, a lot of research and development has been done in the use of LEDs as a lighting source for growing crops in a controlled indoor environment. The present 600 square feet facility uses macro and micro nutrients in the mineral rich fertilizer blends that recirculates through the entire system producing healthy crops in an optimized nutrient blend. In this vertical lateral grow setting, the light intensity is optimized for the crops being grown, as well as enhancing all parameters necessary for crop production.

Oxanic Grow is a completely scalable system that can be used in commercial plant production or for the hobbyist at home for personal use. The turn key design that has a very small footprint, automates and protects the environment in the process by using little to no grow media, minimal pesticides or herbicides and conserves water.

Plants can be supported in several grow media that provide no nutrients but lend support to the plant roots. These grow media can include but not limited to hydroton, rock wool, gravel and perlite. Oxanic Grow grow cups are designed to support the plant roots without the use of any grow media therefore enhancing root development and reduces light entering the grow rails. Because of this, the buildup of algae in the system is greatly reduced.

Oxanic Grow: Fresh Garden Market currently produces several varieties of lettuce and plants. These include, but are not limited to, buttercrunch lettuce, red leaf lettuce, kale, peppers, and strawberry plants.

Growing Beyond

The Oxanic Grow: Beyond Organic scalable grow model has the potential to produce healthy low pesticide sustainably grown agricultural produce for a hobbyist gardener to a large-scale plant factory at cost and labour that is comparable to conventional agriculture. Ronald has also embarked on the feasibility of implementing the use of solar power, especially for communities without access to grid electric power.

Founder, Ronald Yearwood, has a passion for bringing food solutions to communities in Trinidad, the Caribbean, West Africa and beyond. Ronald continues to focus on creating grow units that is applicable for cultivating a wider variety of crops in any environment, from leafy greens and vegetables to fruiting crops in one of Oxanic Grow’s Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) grow factories.

His hope is that people like himself learn the model and use it to grow what is needed and more. He is willing to share his knowledge and expertise so that nations could reap the fruits and vegetables of their labour. For Trinidad and Tobago and other Caribbean islands, with the rapidly increasing food import bill with contributing factors being the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war and the Covid-19 pandemic, Ronald also hopes that similar models could reduce the food import bill while still providing quality foreign produce now being grown locally. And with the Government’s thrust to encourage citizens to invest in local farming and fisheries, one of its goals is to reduce the cost of the food import bill.

Oxanic Grow shareholders now include Vishnu Charran, Derek Regis, and Andy Aquillera. Oxanic Grow will continue to increase production while decreasing the cost of production making eating healthy more affordable for the average consumer.
This year, Oxanic Grow intends to introduce locally grown strawberries in supermarkets. The production of other crops is also being piloted. Other plans include: introducing other exotic plants from across the world, educating the public about health and medicinal value of plants, establishing more greenhouses and adding more online shopping options.

BOS Units

Controlled environment agriculture. From seedlings to harvest, our rooms run on our BOS units. These units monitor the ideal environment for each type of plant being grown.

Unnecessary Food Import Bill

The local food import bill is exorbitant. With the CEA model factory, Trinidad and Tobago can produce significant fresh produce with an international taste.
